Brenda is the triple-threat writer, producer and co-creator of the award-winning series, State of Grace which was the first project Frances McDormand signed on to after winning her Best Actress Oscar for FARGO.  It was also Alia Shawkat’s first television series. Shawkat starred alongside Mae Whitman, Dinah Manoff, Faye Grant and Tom Verica.  Brenda's big tent of writing and producing credits includes features, episodic comedies and dramas, Russian telenovelas, animation, MOWs, plays, and book-musicals.  Falling into the category of ‘from the ridiculous to the sublime’ her past life as an actress found her performing at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, in a William Friedkin film, on the television series "Married with Children," "Murphy Brown," and "The Judge," and at select dinner-theatres in the southeast, often in a frilly maid's uniform.  As a commissioned playwright, her work has been seen in Los Angeles, Chicago, NY, Beverly, MA and NC.  DOLL (right/below - Drew Starkey,  Ellen Cassidy), her adaptation of Ibsen’s  classic, A Doll’s House, takes place in a suspenseful, mid-century-modern house besieged by a woman’s nail-biting secret and occasionally humorous journey towards independence.  It is also an explanation why some women may appear angry.   Her directing work includes musicals, comedies, dramas, award shows, historic celebrations, a banquet or two as well as short films (The Man In The Bright Nightgown, left Michael Lilly) and web series.
